⚠️ Jeep manufacturer position
Jeep JT documents tank removal on many procedures due to skid plates and frame routing. Misfuel damage is excluded from warranty.

Misfuel risk High
EcoDiesel Gladiators are highly sensitive to gasoline contamination. Gasoline models risk diesel nozzle fills at truck lanes.
If the engine was not started
Do not start EcoDiesel—do not cycle key to RUN. Drain tank before fuel pump primes common rail.
If the engine was started
EcoDiesel with gasoline run time may require HPFP, injectors, rails, and filters; gasoline models running diesel need similar full flush.
Access procedure
- Relieve fuel system pressure and disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Drain accessible fuel through the pump module opening when OEM allows; otherwise prepare for tank removal.
- Raise the vehicle safely; support the fuel tank with OEM-approved equipment.
- Disconnect filler neck, vent, EVAP, and supply/return lines at the tank.
- Lower the tank and empty remaining fuel into approved containers.
- Flush or replace components per contamination severity and OEM limits.
- Reinstall the tank, reconnect all lines, and torque fasteners to specification.
- Refill, prime, and verify fuel pressure and leak-free operation (Jeep service information).
Notes
- DEF fill is separate—never add DEF to diesel fuel tank.

Frequently asked questions
I put gas in my Gladiator EcoDiesel—can I dilute it?
Do not attempt dilution or starting. Gasoline damages diesel common-rail pumps—full drain and OEM inspection first.
Why is tank drop common on Gladiator?
Underbody skid plates and pickup tank packaging often require tank lowering per TechAuthority even for drain operations.
Does the 3.6L Gladiator take diesel?
No. Pentastar models are gasoline only—verify badging and fuel cap color/label.
