About USIFDA
Our Mission
The USA Insoluble Fuel Disposal Agency (USIFDA) is an independent industry association dedicated to establishing and maintaining professional standards in the fuel contamination remediation sector. We work to help operators understand and meet U.S. federal, state, and local requirements—environmental, transportation, workplace safety, and fire code—so consumers, insurers, and gas stations can rely on documented, OEM-aligned remediation practices.
Our History
Established in 2024, USIFDA was created in response to inconsistent practices in the U.S. misfuel remediation market—from gasoline-in-diesel events at highway gas stations to fleet and light-duty diesel misfuels. We provide a voluntary certification framework aligned with U.S. law so repair facilities, mobile units, and Compliant Operators can demonstrate documented compliance to insurers, station owners, and regulators.
What We Do
- Set Industry Standards: Develop comprehensive protocols for fuel contamination remediation
- Certify Operators & Repair Facilities: Assess and certify Compliant Operators, Certified Repair Facilities, and Mobile Operators (where requirements are met) who meet our standards and authorize them to display the USIFDA Mark
- Monitor Compliance: Monitor the industry and investigate reports of non-compliant operators
- Protect Consumers: Ensure fair pricing, proper documentation, and quality service
- Environmental Protection: Promote proper management of contaminated fuel under U.S. EPA RCRA and used-oil rules, with state environmental agency requirements as applicable
- Industry Education: Provide resources and training to improve industry practices

Industry Standards & Compliance
USIFDA certification standards are designed to align with key U.S. regulatory frameworks, including:
- U.S. EPA RCRA hazardous waste and used-oil rules (40 CFR Parts 260–273, Part 279); spill reporting (40 CFR Part 110); SPCC (Part 112); UST rules (Part 280)
- OSHA flammable liquids, hazard communication, and HAZWOPER where applicable (29 CFR 1910.106, 1910.1200, 1910.120)
- U.S. DOT / PHMSA hazardous materials regulations (49 CFR Parts 171–180), including Materials of Trade limits for mobile service (49 CFR 173.6)
- NFPA 30 / NFPA 30A, International Fire Code Chapter 57, and local fire marshal permits
- EPA fuel quality rules (40 CFR Part 1090), ASTM D4814 / D975, and FTC Act Section 5 fair-marketing principles
