⚠️ Land Rover manufacturer position

TOPIx typically requires tank drop with exhaust/undershield disruption on Discovery. Wrong fuel voids fuel-system warranty.

Misfuel risk High

Large SUV tank and past US diesel availability mean truck-lane nozzle mistakes and gasoline-in-diesel events are expensive if the engine runs.

If the engine was not started

Keep engine off; complete TOPIx drain and refill with correct fuel.

If the engine was started

Full fuel system service plus HP pump and injectors on direct-injection engines; diesel may need DPF/SCR assessment.

Access procedure

  1. Depressurize and disconnect battery per TOPIx
  2. Drain fuel with approved equipment
  3. Support tank and remove straps after line/filler disconnect
  4. Clean modules and inspect saddle-tank sides
  5. Reinstall and prime; clear adaptives if instructed

Frequently asked questions

Discovery vs Discovery Sport — same fuel procedure?

No. Discovery usually needs tank drop; Discovery Sport may differ — use the model-specific TOPIx procedure.

What if only a small amount of wrong fuel was added?

JLR still recommends full drain and filter service; do not rely on dilution if the engine has not been run.
