⚠️ Lotus manufacturer position

Lotus documents high-voltage disable and battery service through Lotus technical information. Introducing foreign fluids into battery or power electronics is catastrophic and warranty-excluded.

Misfuel risk Not applicable

The Eletre has no fuel tank. Risk is mis-filling coolant, washer fluid, or DEF-like fluids into the wrong port; high-voltage safety dominates any fluid service event.

If the engine was not started

Keep vehicle off; do not charge until inspected if wrong fluid may have entered coolant or brake systems.

If the engine was started

If the vehicle was driven after serious fluid cross-contamination, stop safely and tow to a Lotus-authorized facility; do not attempt fuel-system style flushes.

Access procedure

  1. If incorrect fluid entered any reservoir, do not drive; contact Lotus-certified repair
  2. Disable high-voltage system per Lotus procedure before opening hood service ports
  3. Identify affected system (washer, coolant, brake) — never use fuel-system drain tools on EV components
  4. Drain or flush affected reservoir per Lotus guidance only
  5. Inspect adjacent wiring and modules for fluid intrusion
  6. Document incident for insurer; HV components may require replacement if contaminated

Frequently asked questions

Can you put gas in a Lotus Eletre?

No fuel tank is fitted. If gasoline was poured into any opening, do not start or charge the vehicle; tow for inspection — contamination of seals or HV components is possible.

What if washer fluid was added to the wrong tank?

Follow Lotus service information for the affected reservoir. High-voltage disable is required before service near power electronics.

Does misfuel warranty apply to the Eletre?

There is no fuel system. Fluid misuse or contamination is excluded from warranty like other Lotus models.
