Misfuel risk Not applicable
EQ models do not have a fuel tank. Wrong-fluid events involve washer fluid, coolant, or other reservoirs—follow Mercedes EV service for those systems.
If the engine was not started
For non-fuel wrong-fluid: do not energize HV if fluid may contact battery or power electronics—follow XENTRY.
If the engine was started
HV damage from wrong fluids may require module inspection—treat as separate from gasoline/diesel misfuel.
Access procedure
- Identify whether any fluid was added to the wrong reservoir (e.g., washer or coolant)—not a fuel misfuel.
- If high-voltage system was compromised by fluid ingress, follow XENTRY de-energize and inspection procedures.
- Do not attempt fuel-tank-style drain on EQ vehicles—there is no fuel tank.
- Contact Mercedes-Benz qualified EV technician for HV safety assessment.
Notes
- EQS SUV and sedan share EV architecture—neither has a fuel tank.

Frequently asked questions
Is the EQS a hybrid with a gas tank?
US EQS models are full battery electric—no gasoline tank. The EQS name is separate from S-Class gasoline hybrids.
What if someone poured fuel into my EQS?
Do not drive or charge. Contamination in non-fuel openings requires Mercedes inspection—treat as potential HV safety issue.
